Peter was the third of eight children of John Brennan (born 1845 in Vasse, Western Australia) and Catherine (Kate) dawson born 1857 in Vasse, Western Australia). John and Kate married in 1879 in Busselton, WA.

Peter worked as a Sleeper Cutter in the Vasse Region and in 1915 was in Busselton when he enlsited in the AIF. He served with 10th and 14 Field Artillery Brigades as a Private, Gunner and Bombardier (Service no: 15146) in France and was Discharged in 1919.

Brothers - Edward John (Service No: 1020); George Henry (Service No: 3487); and James Vincent (Service No: 3024) also served in WWI. Youngest Brother Matthew was with the ACMF as a Private (Service No: 83925) in WWII, and nephew Vincent Sydney Brennan served with 2/3 Field Regiment as a Driver (Service No: WX71). Vincent was captured in Crete in 1941 and was a PoW at Stalag VII in Moosberg, Germany.

Returning to Australia, Peter was a Timber Worker in Albany, WA when he married Rose Frances Adams (born 1899 at Lion Mill in WA) in 1921. Peter and Rose settled in Augusta in WA, where Peter worked as a Teamster before moving to Perth in 1945. Peter was a Timber Worker in Perth until retirement in 1954. He died in Perth in 1967 and Rose in 1969
