Prior to migrating to Australia he had served in the French Navy for four years.
on 4 May 1908 Yves arrived in Port Adelaide from Cherboug, France aboard a sailing ship. Places of residence prior to enlisting included three years at Two Wesll, a year at Modbury and a further two years with the Butler family in Tumby Bay. His Naturalization paper was signed on 7 September 1914.
Next of kin given as a friend Harriet Kemp of Modbury, SA.
27 June 1916 - enlisted at Adelaide with the 43rd Battalion and rank of Private.
11 November 1916 - transferred to the 37th Battalion.
12 October 1918 - transferred to the 38th Battalion.
1 Septenber 1919 - discharged at the 4th Military District.
Commenced return to Australia on 27 May 1919 aboard Rio Pado disembarking on 17 July 1919
