Obituary
MR. ARTHUR C. SWEET
Our correspondent at Legerwood writes: — 'News was received from Victoria of the passing of Mr. Arthur C. Sweet so well known throughout the East Coast of Tasmania. He was a native of Goulds Country and about 30 years ago he with his parents and brother and sisters, came to Legerwood, and conducted the Legerwood Hotel. When the first World War broke out both Arthur and his brother Charles enlisted for active service. After returning home the former took an interest in every public and social institution. He was a Councillor in the Ringarooma Municipality, one of the directors in the N.E. Co-Op. Dairy Factory, was a member and chairman of the N.E.S.M. Hospital Committee, President of Ringarooma Returned Soldiers League, President of the Parents' Association, Legerwood; and many other activities. He was gassed at the war, and owing to ill health removed his family to Bentleigh, Victoria. He is survived by his widow, five daughters and three sons. Another daughter, Mrs. Fred McDougall, died early this year at her parents home.
