Add my storyBiography contributed by Stephen Brooks
Herbert was the son of William and Sarah Love of Ketton Farm, Denmark, Western Australia. He was born in Lancashire, England and his family came out to Australia during 1910.
He was only 18 when he enlisted and was fined seven days pay shortly after arriving in France for hesitating to obey an order from an NCO and using obscene language to an NCO. He only joined the 51st Battalion a fortnight before they suffered extremely heavy casualties during a desperate assault on Mouquet Farm. He was reported missing during the battle and his remains were never found.
His half brother Captain Alfred Love 12th Battalion AIF was returned to Australia wounded during 1916.
