Australian soldier, Private Joseph William Leahy-Service Number 1051-Killed in Action 09/04/1917- Lagnicourt, France-11th Battalion, C Company, .Australian Infantry, A.I.F., was also born here. Both are honoured on the Kilkenny Great War Memorial, Kilkenny Peace Park.
He was 38 and the son of James and Maria Lowrie, of Mooloolah, North Coast Line, Queensland.
