At the time of enlistment he was emplyed by Perth Crossland Forestry Company of Perth, WA. Prior to that he had been a police officer

He had previously served with the Victorian Volunteer Ranges and a memer of the Mounted Rifles

From Gallipoli, 1915

Pte. Arthur Dunkley, 16th Battalion Australian Infantry, was killed at Quinn's Post on 2nd May 1915. His photograph was published on 30th July 1915. [1]
“DUNKLEY. — On May 9 [2] in action at Quinn's Post, Dardanelles, Corporal A. H. Dunkley, Transport 16th Battalion (ex-police constable), beloved husband of E. M. DunkIey, 63 Newcastle-street. Perth, loving father of Leonard (at present at Blackboy Hill) and Gladys Dunkley. Deeply mourned. He died for his country.” [3]

Commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial, the former mill hand was the 43 year-old son of Thomas and Ellen Dunkley, husband of Ellen Margaret Dunkley, of 63 Newcastle Street, Perth, Western Australia; originally of Brighton, Victoria.
