Son of James Bowen (also known as James Bowen Walker) and Elizabeth Bowen nee Avis.

Next of kin given as his brother George Bowen of 33 Ormond Street, Kensington, Victoria. Also brother of John Avis Bowen C/- Polack family, 'Katyil', Dimboola, Victoria, Thomas Bowen, Rose Bowen and Louisa Bowen

The children had been removed from their father's care and placed in the Presbyterian and Scotch Church Neglected Children's Aid Society of North Melbourne, Victoria

Medals: 1914-15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal

Also served in the school cadets for 18 months

Prior to enlisting he had been a member of the Loyal Doutta Galla Lodge of Bayview Terrace, Kensington, Victoria
