Son of Carl Ludwig (Charles) Zupp and Elizabeth Zupp nee Dorfield of Toowoomba, QLD. Carl arrived in Australia from Germany aboard Peter Godeffrey.
On 14 May 1919 John married Grace Wiffen in the St. Georges Church, Southall, Middlesex, England.
