Henry left Sydney on 5 June 1918 on the RMS Orontes reaching Liverpool, England on 11 August. He served in the U.K. for the remainder of the war. Henry was hospitalised with diphtheria on 8 November and influenza/ neurasthemia on 6 June 1919. He was promoted to temporary Lance Corporal on 3 February 1919. Henry returned to Australia on the Marathon on 19 April and was discharged on 21 June.
