Son of Charles William BOWLY and Alice BOWLY nee KING, Waramea, Quirindi, NSW

Prior to the war he was a woolclasser and shearing contractor with Edkins & Co., Malboona, Winton Qld.

He took up Kalkadoon (originally a part of Elderslie Station) in 1914.

Upon discharge from the Army he and his brother Eustace formed Bowly Bros. and in 1920 they purchased Donald Downs and settled there.

In 1920 he married Olga nee SUTCLIFFE from Qurinidi, NSW.
