Frank requested special leave to return to Australia as per the following

"Camp Commandant

I desire to apply for return to AUSTRALIA on the following grounds :-

Prior to the war I was a member of the Commonwealth Naval Reserve and was called up 3 days before the war.  I served continuously on the "Countess of Hopetoun" on patrol work till July 1915 when I was chosen with a draft of 143 others for transfer to the A.I.F and left Australia on 9.11.15, and have been on active service since that date.  I am now attached as a cook with 5th Aust. Divisional Headquarters.  I am a married man and 42 years of age.  I have 4 children, the eldest of whom is a girl aged 11 years.  My only boy, now aged 5 years, has developed tuberculosis of the knee, and is now a permanent cripple after 10 months in Hospital.  Two of my brothers have been killed and one wounded.  My only other brother is a permanent cripple."

The request was strongly recommended by the Camp Commandant and granted.
