In the South Australian Births Index of Registrations Edwin is listed as Johannis
Edwin Milde, the son of Christian and Wilhelmine Milde of Robertstown. He
left Australia on 16 March 1916 on board the Anchises and proceeded to
Egypt, where on 15 May he was treated for shell shock at Tel-el-Kebir. Edwin
was appointed Muster Driver with the 14th Field Ambulance on 1 March 1917.
A bout of scabies/ myalgia resulted in a period of hospitalisation in January
1918. He served as a gunner, driver and shoesmith prior to being appointed
Shoesmith on 1 November. At the cessation of hostilities Edwin came home
to Australia on the Durham on 22 May 1919 and was discharged on 13
February 1920.
