There is some doubt about his place of birth; the CWGC record which includes information provided by his parents when they returned the Final Verification Papers states that he was a native of Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex, England. It is likely that he was born in Poplar, east London. This is especially likely as he attended school at Essex Road School, East Ham, London, England
He was 27 and the son of Elizabeth and the late Edwin Richard Alabaster.
In the United Kingdom, he is honoured on the war memorial now in Prittlewell Priory, Southend-on-Sea, Essex.
