Son of Harold Hennell and Mary Elizabeth Hennell nee Bone of Denison Road, Petersham, NSW formerly of Ballarat, Victoria.
Brother of Edmond John Victory Hennell was killed in action on 6 August 1915 while serving with the 4th Battalion and has no known grave. His name appears on the Lone Pine Memorial, Panel 22; William Thomas Alma Hennell who returned to Australia on 1 july 1919 having served with the 19th Battalion, Harold Hennell and Myrtle Ellen Hennell
