Son of James and Hannah M. Pettigrew, of Chelmer, Brisbane
"Mrs. Pettigrew, of Chelmer, has received official notice that her son, Lieut H. J. Pettigrew, was killed in action in France on August 21, instead of August 31, as previously stated. Lieut. Pettigrew left Brisbane on October 21, 1915. He was killed instantly by a shell whilst holding the most northerly part of the line in the Pozieres position." - from the Queenslander 21 Oct 1916 (nla.gov.au)
