May have lowered his age by several years when enlisting. Attestation paper differs from the headstone latter is also sometimes reported to be under the name of Allison
Son of Andrew Ollison and Christina Ollison nee Smith of the Shetland Islands, England.

In 1938 while bathing his legs in methylated spirits Lawrence was badly burnt when a spark from his pipe ignited the methylated spirits and spread to his clothing
