Biography contributed by Evan Evans

From 52nd Battalion AIF

Abraham ELSON was only 18 when he enlisted in November 1915. He was with the 14th Reinforcements to the 12th Bn that disembarked at in March 1916. Then transferred to the 52nd Bn on 19 April. He proceeded to France and disembarked at Marseilles on 12 June 1916. He was wounded in action at Mouquet Farm with gunshot wounds to the neck and arm, which saw him evacuated to England. He finally rejoined the 52nd on 17 January 1917. Appointed Lance Corporal, 22 September 1917. It is likely he was killed by the intense shellfire at Broodseinde Ridge on 19 October.
