Walter was born at Kaniva but his mother was living at Sandy Creek when he enlisted in March 1917. He was sent to France and served there from December 1917.
He was later listed as “non-Military employment” for several months after the war ended. There is very little information in his record to tell us what happened to him but apparently he remained healthy and unhurt throughout his time overseas. He returned to Australia aboard the “Ulysses” in August 1919.
