Son of Benjamin Virgin and Emma Virgin nee Ford of 'Hindmarsh', Dowerin, WA formerly of Brompton, SA.

On 22 May 1919 Henry married Nellie Madeline Whelan in the Winterbourne Gunner Parish Church, Amesbury, Wiltshire, England. 

Commenced return to Australia on 25 September 1919 aboard HT Mahana disembarking on 3 November 1919
