Reginald Hazzard was born on 27th July 1899 (1). At some point in his life, he was adopted by Mrs. Pauline A. Hazzard who lived at 182 Forbes Street, Darlinghurst, New South Wales. She raised her adopted son, Reginald, by herself, without a father figure (2). When Reginald Hazzard was 16 he enrolled at Sydney Technical High school in Class 1C in 1915 (3).


On 7th February 1918 Reginald Hazzard enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) at age 18 years and 11 months, thus beginning his military service (4). He departed Australia on 5 June 1918 as part of the 35th reinforcements for the Field Artillery Brigades (FAB) (5). He was later assigned to the 6th Field Artillery Brigade as a gunner, where he operated from the rear lines and fired artillery (6). He participated in the Hundred Days Offensive and was promoted to the rank of driver, equivalent to a private in the British military, during the war (7). After the war ended he returned to on 22 November 1918, where he began his future career as a trade commissioner. During this time, he remained in the army, was classified as effective abroad


Reginald Hazzard returned to Australia on 24th November 1919 and was discharged 21st December 1919 (9). Eight years later he married Catherine Hazzard on 14 April 1927 (10). Reginald would continue to work as an Australian Trade Commissioner and would often be overseas for business. He worked in New Zealand, New York, England, Hong Kong, and Australia (11).  In 1951, he retired and subsequently divorced his wife (12). Twenty Two years later, Reginald Hazzard died at the age of 73 from unknown causes(13).
