After the death of Lieutenant Allan Ferguson Nicholson, his widow contacted the Base Records Officer in Canberra with regards to paper work that she had found entitling Lieutenant Nicholson to the military awards of the Military Cross and the Distinguished Conduct Medal.
Lieutenant Nicholson served very little, if any time in the field and was never awarded the above two military awards. The memorial plaque of Lieutenant Allan F. Nicholson at the Mt. Thompson Memorial Gardens (www.heavenaddress.com) is inscribed with these two awards that he never earned.
