William Frederick Herbert Edmonds (1895 – 1974) was born on 6 May 1895 in Petersburg (now known as Peterborough. He worked as a railway cleaner before he enlisted on the 30th of August 1915 at the age of 21 years and 3 months. On his enlistment papers he was described as 5ft 8 1/2" and 154lbs with a fair complexion, blue eyes and brown hair.

He embarked on the 18th of December 1915, around four and a half months after his enlistment. His service number was 1590 and he was a part of the 3rd Light Horse regiment. He served in the Middle East for the duration of his war service. He returned to Australia on the ship Orani disembarking 26 June 1919. 

Edmonds went on to serve in the Second World War with the SA Volunteer Defence Corp, and was appointed as an Acting Lieutenant in March 1943

He lived to the age of 79 and died on the 23rd of May 1974. He is buried in Centennial Park Cemetery.
