Ernest John PIRANI was born in 1896 at Armadale, Melbourne, Victoria
His parents were John PIRANI and Isabella WATSON
He had previously served for 13th months with the 88th Infantry Battalion before he enlisted in Perth, WA on 28th August, 1915 and embarked with the 11th Infantry Battalion, 12th reinforcements from Fremantle WA on the ship RMS Mongolia
Ernest was Killed in Action due to an exploding shell on 25th July, 1916 at Pozieres, France - he has no known grave
His name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial and the Villers Bretonneux Memorial
