Biography contributed by Stephen Brooks

Private Edward John Daly of the 59th Battalion was only 22 years of age when he was killed, and the second son of Catherine Edith and Mr. Patrick Daly (who had died in 1899). In the local papers it was reported that Private Daly was a quiet, unassuming lad. An elder brother, Private Patrick James Daly, who enlisted early in the war, was invalided home as a result of severe wounds in the head during October 1917.
