His parents were William Bismarck PHILIPPSON & Elizabeth Evelyn LAWRENCE who married in Broken Hill on 3rd January, 1891

His brother Clarence Lancelot PHILIPPSON (SN 3390) also served during WW1 & died of wounds on 7th November, 1916
