Served his Watchmakng apprenticeship with O'Neilson's of Hobart. Tasmania

Previously served three years in the Tamanian Army  Service Corps

Commenced return to Australia on 20 April 1919 aboard HMAT Boonah disembarking on the 8 June 1919
