19 May 1918: Honoured Military Medal, For conspicuous bravery during an enemy attack on our lines near Albert on morning of 3rd April, 1918. When the attack on our lines near commenced this N.C.O. lay with his Lewis gun in full view of the enemy, and exposed to machine gun fire and snipers, and inflicted heavy casualties on the right. He then directed his gun towards the centre and kept it going until the attack was broken. He then took up a forward position and waited 14 hours, in case the enemy again attacked.
