20th of February 1886 in Hawker South Australia James Inglis was born. His mother was Mrs. Mary Inglis. He had two brothers who also went to the First World War and fought.
He enlisted, aged 21, at Rockhampton in Queensland on 21 October 1915. He had hazel eyes with dark brown hair and his chest measurement was 36 inches.
He was sent to Egypt for four months to train. His unit name was 26th Battalion, 8th Reinforcement and he was ranked as a Private. He was later attached to the 7th Machine Gun Company. He fought on the Western Front in France and hospitalised due to illness in April 1916, rejoining his unit in August. He got into a bit of trouble during his service being punished for going AWL 13th October 1916, on 4th January 1917 was fined for being drunk and disobedient and was again found AWL on 12th March 1917. He was again hospitalised in September 1917 with severe heart issues.
He married Emily Ann Dunford on the 12th of March 1918 in London. His discharge date was 19 August 1918.
James Inglis passed away on the 24th of January 1929 from heart problems.
