George Patrick GRENDON was born in the UK in 1877 and was working at the Sunbury (Victoria) Asylum as a Warder when he joined the AIF in 1915.
His next of kin was his father, Joseph William Grendon who resided at 26 Derry Street, Cape Town, South Africa.
George left Australia as part of the 29th Battalion on 14/11/1915.
George had taken part in the Boer War.
He was transferred to the 14th FAB and attained the rank of Corporal.
He was injured while shoeing a horse on 10/9/1916 and returned to Australia on 4/5/1917. He was discharged medically unfit on 19/11/1917.
George returned to work at the Sunbury Asylum but in 1921 contracted acute bronchitis. He was admitted to the Caulfield Military Hospital and died there on 14/11/1921.
