Alfred Noel Greenfield was born on the 15th of January 1893 to Alice Mary Sibley and Alfred Ferris Greenfield in Adelaide, South Australia. He worked as a cleaner in Willunga, Onkaparinga before enlisting on the 24th of September 1915 when he was 22 years old.

His unit embarked from Adelaide, South Australia, on board HMAT A69 Warilda on the 10th of February 1916. He worked in the 3rd Field Ambulance at Gallipoli and the 7th Field Ambulance at the Western Front.

He married Sarah Rose Greenfield on the 8th of March 1919 and returned to Australia on the 12th of July the same year. He had two children, Margaret Alison Greenfield (1930-1996), Ronald William Greenfield (1927-1964). After the war, he became a fireman and later, a farmer. He died on the 2nd of August 1952 at the age of 59.
