Edward Lennox Maine Atkins was born on the 23rd of July in 1897 in Paddington, Sydney, Australia. He was born to parents Charles Atkins and Annie Atkins. Edward attended Sydney Technical High School which enabled him to lay a good foundation. Atkins’s occupation prior to joining the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) was a Bank Clerk.
The war experience of Atkins could be traced from enlisting in the AIF on 5th August 1918. He embarked on the HMAT A7 Medic, 2nd November 1918. During the journey the war ended and the ship returned to Australia arriving back 12th December 1918. He was officially discharged from the AIF 23rd December 1918..
Atkins married Iris M Livingstone on 5 December 1923 whom he had a daughter with, and then to an unknown woman whom he had a son with. Edward Lennox Atkins Jr. Atkins was an involved member of his Padddington community and often attended local events and social functions.
Edward Lennox Maine Atkins died on 30 May, 1945 and he continued active participation in civic activities in the local community.
