Add my storyBiography contributed by Stephen Brooks
David was the son of James and Mary Nairn Stewart Brownlie, of Balgownie, New South Wales. He was a miner and electrical engineer in the Mt Pleasant colliery, prior to the war.
He was killed three weeks after arriving in France, serving near Armentieres. A shell blew in the parapet of a trench he was in with 5 or 6 others. David was the only casualty, mortally hit by a piece of the shell.
