DEATH OF LIEUTENANT LATTA,
AN EX-WEST COASTER
Launceston, Friday Night.— Word was received here to-day that Lieutenant Charles H. Latta, eldest son of late Mr. G. J. Latta aged 25, had died of wounds at Calais. Deceased, who was a native of Launceston, was, prior to enlisting, employed as assayer at the Mount Bischoff mine, at Waratah.
News was received in Launceston on July 28 of the death from wounds of Lieutenant C.H. Latta. Lieut Latta passed away in the 18th General Hospital, Calais, France on July 23. He was educated at the Launceston Church Grammar School and the Geelong College. He qualified in Metallurgy and Assaying at Sydney University in 1912, and was for some time employed as assayer at the Mount Bischoff mine. He enlisted in Victoria about 12 months ago.
