Son of Henry Phillip Oakenfull and Charlotte Oakenfull nee Ellis of Mooroopna, Victoria.

Brother of George Edwin Oakenfull who returned to Australia on 24 December 1918 having served with the 9th Mobile Veterinary Section; William Henry Oakenfull who returned to Australia on 27 December 1918 having served with the 2nd Pioneer Battallion.

Next of kin given as his sister Mrs Allen of The Avenue, Balaclava, Victoria.
