Son of Harriet Ellen Bell, of Rocky Lead, Victoria, Australia, and the late John Bell
Sapper John Bell, whose death was offically reported as having taken place on 13th May, was the only son and support of his mother Mrs. harriet Bell, a very old resident of Rocky Lead. He enlisted in February, 1916, and was 32 years of age. He was well known in cricket and football circles, and was much respected, as he was very studious, well read, and of sober, truthful and industrious habits. He was also a skilled horticulturist and breeder of high-class poultry, and ready to assist in local charitable movements. Much sympathy is felt for his bereaved mother and only sister. He will be much missed.
