Son of George Opie and Louisa Marion Opie nee Holmes of Napier Street, St Arnaud, Victoria.
Prior to enlisting Lyndsay was apprenticed to the Postal Department, Victoria
Commenced return to Australia on 23 March 1919 aboard HT Czar disembarking on 16 May 1919

At the time of enlisting for WW2 his next of kin was his wife Ida Adelaide Opie nee Lording of Drummond Street, Ballarat, Victoria with his occupation being given as storeman and dispenser. Lyndsay and Ida married during 1923c.
