"PRIVATE NORM HARROWFIELD.
Private Norman Harrowfield, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Harrowfield, of Avoca, has been killed in action in France. The deceased, who spent his boyhood days in this town, was highly respected, and widespread sympathy is felt for the bereaved family. Norman had been bravely doing his share at the front for a considerable time, and his death is greatly deplored. Corporal Robt. Harrowfield, who is a brother of the deceased, is also on active service." - from the Avoca Free Press 30 Aug 1916 (nla.gov.au)
