Hugh was the son of George Neville & Ada Frances Griffiths (née Scott).  He was one of eight children.  All of his brothers served in WW1.  F. Guy, John Neville & Francis (Frank) Griffiths.  Guy and Frank returned home, with Frank committing suicide in 1930.  

Hugh was killed instantly by machine gun fire during the first day at Lone Pine, 6 August 1915, Gallipoli Peninsula.

He is commemorated at the Memorial at Johnstone's Jolly Cemetery, Anzac, Gallipoli, Turkey.  He is believed to be buried in this cemetery, though his actual grave is unknown.
