3 Mar 1919: | Honoured Military Medal, "The Last Hundred Days", For conspicuous bravery and devotion to duty at Chuighes on 23rd Aug. 1918. Cpl. RITCHIE ably led his platoon forward to the objective under heavy machine gun and shell fire after his platoon leader had become a casualty. During the consolidation he displayed good leadership, initiative and judgment. Throughout the operation, his soldierly bearing was an inspiration and example to his men. Though slightly wounded he remained at duty. Slight wound face - remaining at duty. |
