Allan George Cross was a Farmer at Mount Hicks, Wynyard, Tasmania when he enlisted on 11 April 1916 in the AIF, serving as a Private (Service no: 5676) with 18th Reinforcements 12th Battalion and 40th Battalion. On 7 June 1917 Private Cross was severely wounded at Boulogne, France, receiving Gun Shot Wounds to the face, chest and ar,

Private Cross took his Discharge on 29 December 1917, and returned to Tasmania where he farmed at Takone on Table Cape in Tasmania until the late 1950s

Allan married Frances Erina Elsie Maud Richards in 1950, and they retired to Maroochydore, Queensland in 1958
