Son of George and Agnes (nee Wall) Ellis of 12 Esplanade, Williamstown, Vic. Brother of Leicester George Ellis who died of wounds on 23 August 1915 and has no known grave and Harold Stanley Ellis who returned to Australia in 1919

11 July 1917 - commenced return to Australia on board Port Sydney for discharge
