Father: Thomas Rickard BAWDEN & Mother: Ellen LEE.
SA Birth Records 1842 - 1906 Book: 418 Page: 378 District: Dal.

On enlisting he was 28yrs 8mths old, 5' 9.5" tall, single, fresh complexion; blue eyes; brown hair, worked as a Grocers Assistant. lived at 154 Wakefield St, Adelaide, Methodist. 

24/1/1916    Enlisted in Adelaide SA
30/6/1916    Embarked from Port Melbourne onboard HMAT A35 Berima, 
                   as a Private with the 11 Field Ambulance.
24/11/1916  proceeded overseas to France
30/5/1917    appointed Lance Corporal

 4/7/1918   Recommended for Military Medal
                 - for conspicious courange, bravery and devotion of duty near Hamel East at Corbie,
                   continuous attendance at new frontline attending to badly wounded men under heavy
                   hostile shell fire, removing men back to safety.

31/8/1918    wounded in action (gun shot wound to left chest), France, evacuated to UK

21/10/1918  Awarded Military Medal - in London Gazette

18/12/1918   returned to Australia onboard SS Somali

10/4/1919     discharged  (total service 3yrs 77days)

Buried with wife Rachel E Bawden (85yrs).
