Thomas (Tom) Albert Price, D.C.M.
Before the outbreak of WWI, Tom lived at McLaren Flat and was a labourer. He enlisted in the AIF 16 Aug 1915 (#3300) and embarked on the HMAT Benalla 27 Oct 1915 from Adelaide.
He was awarded a DCM. Published in the London Gazette 2 Dec 1919 and promulgated in Commonwealth of Australia Gazette No 20, dated 19 Feb 1920.
"For conspicuous gallantry and initiative during the advance near Le Verguier, north east of St. Quentin, on the 18th September 1918. He took charge of a platoon, and, by keeping liasion with company on his flank, greatly assisted the advance. On reaching the final objective he organized a section and pushed forward to a trench about 300 yards in advance, which he cleared of the enemy. He was responsible for the capture of seven officers and 80 other ranks, which, owing to the rapidity of his movements, were captured in dug-outs. He did fine work."
