Cromwell Laurence BEGGS was born in Moonee Ponds, Victoria in 1895

His parents were William John BEGGS & Emily Giles LAURENCE

He had previous service in the 48th Infantry Battalion (2 years) before he enlisted in Melbourne on 9th July, 1915 & embarked with the 24th Infantry Battalion, 7th Reinforcements on the HMAT Commonwealth from Melbourne on 26th November, 1915 to serve in WW1

He was transferred to the 1st Divisional Signal Company on 10th August, 1916 & returned to Australia on the ship Nestor on 15th December, 1919

He married Alison Semple WILSON in Victoria 

Cromwell died in Heidelberg in Victoria in November, 1959 and is buried in the Springvale Botanical Cemetery
