Henry Higham PEPPER was born in Gooram, Victoria in 1893
His parents were Henry PEPPER & Mary Ann BANKS
He enlisted in Melbourne on 14th July, 1915 & embarked on the HMAT Ulysses on 27th October, 1915 with the 24th Infantry Battalion, 6th reinforcements
He was promoted to Lance Corporal on 8th January, 1918 & received a gun shot wound to his neck on 9th February 1918
Henry was Killed in Action on 9th August, 1918 after returning to duty and is buried in the Heath Cemetery at Harbonnieres in France - his name is memorialised on the Australian War Memorial
