Biography

"...1030 Private Glenton Stuart Victor Morphett, 10th Battalion was a 24 year old bank clerk resident at Teringham Street, North Adelaide when he enlisted on 5 September 1915.

He embarked for overseas from Adelaide on 20 October 1914 aboard HMAT Ascanius. Following training in Egypt, the 10th Battalion was part of the covering force for the ANZAC landing at Gallipoli on 25 April 1915 and so was the first ashore at around 4.30am. The battalion was heavily involved in establishing and defending the front line of the ANZAC position.
