WILLIAM GLOVER ROBERTSON

William Glover Robertson Reg. No. 681 was the only son of William Purser Robertson and Ellen Elizabeth Robertson of Magill, South Australia. He was born in Liverpool England on 30th August 1893. William was educated at Park Hill High School, Liverpool, England. Prior to enlistment he was employed as a clerk, at Harris Scarfe Co. Ltd. Gawler Place Adelaide. After enlisting on the 1st February 1915, he embarked from Adelaide, on HMAT Geelong A2, on the 31st of May 1915. He saw service in Lemnos, Egypt and France. He was reported missing, after an attack on an enemy position, on the 5th November 1916. When the ground was retaken his body was found, in “no man’s land.” He was buried in the AIF Burial Ground, Grass Lane, Flers, Picardie, France. The grave is situated at Plot VIII, Row B, Grave No 4.
