Yea Chronicle
26 August 1915... Word has also been received by the parents of Private E. Hilliear, of the First Expeditionary Force, that their son died on the 5th August from wounds received at the Dardanelles. Private Hillier was a member of the Australian Light Horse, the members of which entertained him and other Light Horsemen prior to leaving for the front. He took a prominent part in all sport and was well liked and respected by all. He was amongst the first to offer his services for his country. His parents, who reside at Strath Creek, have received many expressions of sympathy for the loss of their promising son.
