Son of John James Verney and Lucy Verney nee Williams of Toogoolawah, Esk, QLD.
Brother of Graydon (Grayston) Verney who returned to Australia on 26 June 1919 having served with the 5th Divisional Train.
Address at the time of enlistment was given as James Street, Woolowin, QLD.
Commenced return to Australia on 3 December 1918 aboard HT Port Hacking disembarking on 27 January 1919 at Melbourne form onward travel to Brisbane
