Served during The Great War, now resting at Sandgate Cemetery.

96 years ago today, on the Wednesday afternoon of the 30th September 1925, Acting Company Quartermaster Sergeant David Cummings, 8th Battalion (Reg No-2083), carter from Regan Street, Adamstown, New South Wales and 3 Hargrave Street, Carrington, N.S.W., was laid to rest at Sandgate Cemetery, age 35. PRESBYTERIAN-21SE. 91.

Born at Teralba, New South Wales on the 26th April 1890 to John and Ann Cummings, David enlisted April 1916 with the 1st Australian Pioneer Battalion at West Maitland, N.S.W.

Service record indicates that David did not suffer any wounding’s or sickness, and returned home July 1919, being discharged fit and well on the 19th August 1919.

Mr. Cumming’s name has been inscribed on the Adamstown Citizens' Memorial and the Adamstown Methodist Church Honour Roll (photo, 1st unveiled on the 31st October 1915, 27 names inscribed, 2 designated as having Fallen, 2nd unveiling on the 20th June 1917, 82 names now inscribed, 11 Fallen, 115 names now inscribed).

I have placed poppies and a 1914-1918 WAR label at David’s gravesite in remembrance of his service and sacrifice for God, King and Country.
